Rabies is a dreadful disease transmitted to the humans by the bite of animals especially dogs which are infected by rabies virus. In some situations rabies can be transmitted even by the bite of other animals like cats, monkeys, foxes, jackals, wolves and mongoose. The saliva of the animal is the main source of rabies infection.
Rabies can be transmitted by the contact with the injured skin. The rabies virus takes nearly 10 days to more than one year as its incubation period. The prevention for the affect of rabies is Pasteur vaccine which is administered in the form of 14 injections in the stomach or human diploid cell vaccine in the form of five injections in the thighs or hands.

Some of the symptoms of rabies are severe headache, fever with alternating stages of excitement and depression and a severe muscular spasm in the throat and chest. The dogs which cause rabies are mainly of two types the furious and the dumb one. The furious bites people without any provocation and begins to eat non eatables like mud and stick. Whereas the dumb selects a lonely site and remains in a state of sleep and dies.
We must be careful with these two types of dogs in order to be safe from rabies.
